A Monk's Path..HELP!! - Guild Wars Forums

Ok, now I'm not a monk primary nor am I secondary and I don't even want to become one. So my problem is..in the quest named ''A Monk's Path'' (which is in the desert, closest to Elona's Reach), you need to find and slay Eater of Souls (a scarab). But when i find him, he disapears and about 20 scarabs pop out (not all at a time). After I killed them all, obviously my quest wasen't finished, the Eater of Souls didn't come back at all and the arrow still points to the same place. I don't know what to do and I was wondering if any of you knew what to do or if this happened to you too.

Do it again, sometimes the mission boss disappears, it happened to me with an elementalists path.

Well, you got to try the mesmer one (i believe), it is to go prophet's path and kill a minotaur.

Actually I just want to do a random one for hero's challenge quest, and god know why I picked this minotaur. He must be the greatest runner of the entire game. I have to charge to his spawn location, with dozens of devours trailing on my henchman group.

He usually start running after a minute or so after you enter prophet path. Once he starts running, there is no way you can catch him up. So you have to predict which way he would turn. Funniest quest ever, and I did for two of my three alts.

well..ok then I guess I wont be able to do it then. I've been trying it for two days now and its still impossible so thanks anyway guys.

It's not a bug or a glinch! It's ment to be like that!
My advice:

1. Start all over it
2. When you arrive, slay all of them
3. Go around a bit and wait some minutes and then it will spawn 20 more. Wait and go around and go back and it will spawn more.
4. Kill all of them and the boss will finally spawn. Rape it and you're done =)

No I think its a glitch, because it used to be that the boss would spawn his minions as soon as you killed the previous wave. This new method is just annoying, and I don't think A-net would purposely program it to be annoying.

hmm, unless they changed it, there should only be one wave of scarabs

when I did it I took it slow, killing 4 or 5 at a time, after all but about 6 or so scarabs were left, eater of souls came back up, and so I finished him off, wasn't to difficult, if you killed all scarabs and he still didn't come back up, it's probably bugged...

Did that to me as well but i just backed off aways and after 3 or 4 waves of bugs he poped again.

No its 3 Waves of scarabs read the Whole Discribtion of the quest you have to destroy The Souls Of all its eaten to make it mortal so you can kill it. Just bring an Elemantislt iwth Metero storm and lava front and a luring ranger

well I did do this quest a long time ago, so they must have changed it, I'm not argueing with anyone, just saying I only had one wave of scarabs...Maybe did this quest 3-4 weeks ago...

When I did this quest (pre June if that means anything) I had this problem with the boss disappearing/not releasing the next wave. The only thing I was able to do was have some of the surrounding monsters kill me, res at the shrine, then run back, which fixed it ...
